Secretary for Sports, Education and Youth Affairs, Govt. of Maharashtra, Mr. Sanjay Kumar reviews the progress of CYG Pune 2008
Pune, 17th June, 2008:
Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Secretary – Sports, Education and Youth Affairs, Govt. of Maharashtra was in Pune to review the preparedness for the Commonwealth Youth Games to be held in October this year. He visited the Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex at Balewadi and then attended a meeting at the office of the Organising Committee of CYG Pune 2008.
Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, MP and Chairman, OC, CYG Pune 2008 chaired the meeting. Also present were Dr. Nitin Kareer, Divisional Commissioner Pune, Mr. Laxmikant Deshmukh, Sports Director, Maharashtra, Mr. Vijay Kumar Gautam, COO, CWG Delhi 2010 and members of the Organizing Committee of CYG Pune 2008.
Mr. Sanjay Kumar was expressed satisfaction with the world class sporting venues at the Balewadi Sports Complex and the progress till date. He assured the Organising Committee that as the Youth Games are a prestigious event for Maharashtra, he will pursue all pending issues regarding the Youth Games with Govt. of Maharashtra.
The Organizing Committee gave presentations on several functional areas & initiatives undertaken by CYG, such as Volunteer Programme, Youth Baton Relay, Image and Look of the sports complex and Pune city during the Games, Merchandising, School Programme, Cultural Programme during the Games and Green Games initiatives.
